Rockford

Chris S. Keckler, 72, of Rockford, passed away on March 31, 2026, while doing one of the many things he loved, vacationing on a cruise ship.

Chris was born in Rockford on March 22,1954, the son of Clarence and Edna Mae (Messer) Keckler. Chris graduated from Rockford West High School, Class of 1972 and went on to attend Rock Valley College. He was employed at Logli’s/Schnucks’s Grocery Store on 11th Street in Rockford for many years. Chris worked for several other local employers until his retirement.

Chris was a diligent worker and always went “all in” with any endeavor he chose to do. His beloved dog, Nakita, was his loyal companion going on walks in the neighborhood, visiting the dog park, or just chilling at home. He loved going to casinos, taking cruise trips and vacationing in Florida. Chris treasured meeting new people and making new friends while creating fun memories along the way. He was a loyal friend and neighbor who will be dearly missed.

His surviving relatives are his sister, Jodine (Paul) Hudson; nephew, Andrew Hudson; several cousins, extended family, and his close friends from cruise vacations who became like family. He is predeceased by his parents, Edna Mae and Clarence Keckler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Chris's name to the American Kidney Cancer Foundation.
