Christopher J. Timko, 46, of Rockton passed away at home on Monday, November 25, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer and achieved his ultimate goal of heaven. He was born in Staunton, IL on January 18, 1967; the son of Daniel and Susan (Burtle) Timko. Chris grew up in Roscoe, IL and graduated from Hononegah High School class of 1985. He went on to further his education and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Chris was employed as a lab manager for the life science department at Rock Valley College for over 24 years. He enjoyed auto racing and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Chris was also passionate about flower gardening and loved to go fishing and traveling. He was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Chris is survived by his loving parents, Dan and Susan Timko; brother, Craig (Theresa) Timko of Winthrop Harbor, IL; sister, Nicole Gredenius of Rockton, IL; niece, Kelsey and nephews, Symon and Anders; brother-in-law, Scott Gredenius of Roscoe, IL; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at OSF Center for Cancer Care for their compassion.
Memorial Mass at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. Visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Inurnment at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, Glenarm, IL.
