Donald "Don" C. Swanson

Donald “Don” C. Swanson, 88, Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Alpine Fireside Health Center. He was born September 2, 1935, in New York, the son of Merrill and Oneida (Vandehay) Swanson. He was a Veteran serving in the Navy. Don married Carol Martin in Amherst, Ohio on April 26, 1958. He was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Don was an electrical engineer for Sundstrand Corporation for many years. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Carol; his children, Doug (Patricia) of Rockford, Brian of Wisconsin, David of Florida, Karen (Corey) Laws of Roscoe and Brad of Rockford; his 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. with the Reverend Chuck Mueller of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
