Cherry Valley

Donald Hatcher, 80, the most interesting man of Cherry Valley, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, after a short battle. He was born on June 15, 1944, in Rocky Branch, Tennessee.

Don worked at ABAR Ipsen for 30 years before retiring. He loved to fish, dance, and go to garage sales and flea markets. He was very good at wheeling and dealing and almost always made a very good deal for himself.

He was survived by his son, Sammy Hatcher of Rockford; his sisters, Sue Esser of Cherry Valley, Diane Riden of Tennessee, and Rosemary Sparks of Tennessee; his eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Kayla, Tiffany, Trina, Junior, Cody, Jacob, and Tyler; and his 22 great-grandchildren. He is preceded by his son, Randy Hatcher and Wanda Hatcher, the boys’ mother; his mother, Callie Hatcher; his four brothers and his one sister, all of Tennessee.

Per Don’s wishes, there will be a private family gathering in memory at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Fitzgerald Funeral assisted the family. To share memories or extend condolences online, please visit www.fitzgeraldfh.com.

Don was loved and will be missed by his many friends and family. Keep on dancing, Hatcher!
