Donna Jean B Cwynar

Donna Jean Cwynar, 80, of Rockford, Illinois died Wednesday evening after a long illness. She was born in Rock Island to the late Konrad (Sonny) and Margaret Nelson, on December 25, 1933. She married Edward D. Cwynar in 1960. They have been married for 54 wonderful years.
Donna Jean worked at the Rock Island Arsenal and Illinois Bell before she had 2 children – Tom and David. She then devoted her life to raising her boys and taking care of their family's home. She served as volunteer at her children's school when they were young. She was an avid walker and she enjoyed spending time with her sorority friends.
Donna, commonly known as Donnie, was a very soft-spoken woman with a very tender heart and never uttered a negative word about anyone. She enjoyed playing card games with her grandchildren as they were growing up.
She has been an active member of Holy Family Church and she served faithfully at the adoration chapel weekly before succumbing to her illness.
Donna Jean is survived by her husband: Ed Cwynar. She is also survived by her sons: Tom (Connie) Cwynar, David (Joanne) Cwynar and her grandchildren, Matthew, Kristin, Lindsay, Mallory, and Kaylin Cwynar. She was predeceased by her sisters (MaryAnn and Sonja) and both of her parents.
The family appreciates the staff at PA Peterson and Heartland Hospice for their heartfelt care of Donna in the past 9 months.

Funeral Mass Monday, June 2, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. from 4-6 p.m. with a Rosary service to be recited at 6 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday at Holy Family from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m.
