Donna L. Whitfield, 77, Cherry Valley, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in her home. Born March 17, 1936 in Chicago, daughter of Donald and Helen Wermerskirchen McNee. Married John A. Whitfield on February 8, 1964 in St. Vincent DePaul Church in Chicago. He died September 18, 2008. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. She and her husband had previously owned the Immaculata Religious Goods Store in Huntley, and she also was the hostess of a 30 minute show on Public Access television for several years. It was an informative show that discussed religious issues with special guests. Donna was a strong defender of the faith and the life of the unborn. Her main focus was always on her family who she cherished above all else.
Survivors include her daughters, Stephanie (Mark) Rankin, Lydia (Warren) Vowels, Leslie (Michael) Tuttle; grandchildren, Dominic, Sr. Mary Thomas, Alexander, Josephine, Alexis, Maximilian, Zachary, Augustine, Veronica, Juliana, Mary, Francis, Magdalene, Thomas Anthony, Cecilia, John and Joseph; brother David McNee; 2 nieces and a nephew.
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in St. Rita Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Fanelli and Rev. John Evans concelebrating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Monday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M.
