Dorothy I. Hogan

Dorothy I. Hogan, 97, Machesney Park, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in her home at TLC Living Community. Born January 8, 1926 in Kingston, Illinois daughter of William J. and Bessie G. Pfister. Graduated from Capron High School and married Gerald Hogan in Capron on April 12, 1952. Dorothy was a loving and adoring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an entrepreneur having started and run her own dog grooming business for over 20 years. She was an avid gardener and fished many years with her husband and family on Wisconsin lakes. She traveled with her husband, brother-in-law and sister-in-law to the beaches of Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands. She was an inspiration to her family and everyone who met her.

Survivors include her daughters, Diane (John) Choppie and Judy (Randy) Rupprecht; grandchildren, Steven Choppie, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Choppie, Gregory Rupprecht and Amy Rupprecht; great-grandchildren, Sophia Choppie, Steven Choppie, Jr., Cecelia Choppie, Daniel Choppie and Brigid Choppie; sister, Elsie Spencer; sister-in-law, Charlotte Hogan and numerous nieces and nephews, Predeceased by her husband in 2006, parents, sister, Ida Noe, sister Mary Ann Pfister, and brothers-in-law, Jason Hogan, Otto Spencer and Leslie Noe. Dorothy’s family would like to thank OSF Hospice, the wonderful staff and residents of TLC and her special friends at TLC, Elmina and Dinah for their friendship and loving and tender care given to her.

A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Memorials may be directed to the Michael J.
