Eddie Mae McDaniel, 80 of Rockford passed peacefully from this world on May 31, 2014 to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 1, 1934 in Camden, Ark., the daughter of Clyde Neal and Clara Mae Rhodes. She was a dedicated employee of Rockford Health Care for over 22 years later retired in 1998. A member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church of Rockford, until moving to Delhi, LA in 2004 were she became a member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church. In 2006, she became a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Gloster, LA. She loved having her hands in the earth, and was recognized for having a green thumb. She was also a celebrated cook and was always willing to feed anyone and passed both of her passions on to future family generations. She looked forward to listening to good gospel music, being blessed with a great sermon and she also enjoyed fishing in her past time. Eddie Mae was very proud of her family and loved to spend cherished time with them as well. She was a kind, compassionate and caring woman who will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Haywood, and Johnny McDaniel of Gloster, LA, Brant (Linda) and Charles McDaniel of Rockford IL. Daughters, Georgia (Roy) Williams of Delhi LA, Patricia (Robert) Courtright of Rockford IL, and Corvetta (Bobby) Kepney of Fort Wayne, IN. Brothers, Willie Lee (Janice) Porchia, James Lee (Rosie) Porchia, and Mack (Vickie) Isom, all of Rockford IL, Clyde Neal Jr. of Milwaukee WI, Jim Neal of Little Rock AR, and Eddie L. Neal of Rodeo CA. Sisters, Esther Mae Haney, Clarency Isom, Ollie Mae Isom and Minnie Isom, all of Rockford IL, and Helen Neal Torrence of Milwaukee, WI; 42 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relative and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Willie James McDaniel Jr. and Michael Wayne McDaniel; brother, Henry Lee Johnson and grandson, Edward Haley.
Funeral service Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church, 2919 19th St. , Rockford with Rev. Louis E. Malone officiating. Interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation Friday, June 6, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S.
