Edward “Eddie” W. Tovo, 79, of Cherry Valley, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. He was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on June 14, 1946, to Henry and Della (Venzon-Dalpaos) Tovo. Eddie graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1964. He went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee and was employed by electrical contractors for the beginning and completion of both Zion and Byron nuclear facilities. Eddie married Marie Ceschin at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Kenosha, WI, on May 26, 1973; they soon after welcomed two children together. Eddie enjoyed birdwatching and favored raptors and songbirds. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was an avid NASCAR fan, making sure the race was on wherever he went. A talented chef, he taught both his children how to cook a proper meal and was known to create his own recipes. Involved in the community, Eddie was a member of the Cherry Valley Men’s Club and Cherry Valley Festival Days for several years. His family will always remember his dad jokes, as he was prepared to deliver one at any time.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie; children, Nathan (Mary Clare Kane) Tovo, Elisha (Chris Erd) Casey; grandchildren, Haley (Nathan Kutz), Lyra, Aiden, Wyatt, Sophie, Kate, Vivien, Gianna; sister, Carol Murphy; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dalpaos; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; brother, Louis Dalpaos; and brother-in-law, Tom Murphy.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the OSF Hospice team for their loving care and dedication.
