Edward Arlyn Snyder

August 5, 1933 — November 14, 2024

Edward Arlyn Snyder, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, with his four children by his side.

Born in Morrison, Illinois on August 5, 1933 son to Cornelius and Grace (Smith) Snyder, he married Marilyn, the love of his life, on June 15, 1957 in Cary, Illinois. Their journey began when they met at the Rockford School of Business with their first date at Bishop’s Cafe. Throughout his life Edward (Arlyn) was active in Junior Achievement, Scouts, St. Bernadette Parish, the Holiday Rambler Recreational Travel Club, and a 50 year member of the Institute of Management Accountants. Ed and Marilyn enjoyed their 30+ years of retirement, traveling to many places including Alaska, Hawaii, Newfoundland, Maine, and Florida as well as many places in between. He was always full of personality and was a caring, generous man. Ed’s greatest gift was his storytelling. He fondly remembered his years on the family farm, the many friends he made throughout his 35 years as an accountant at Warner Lambert, his travels in the motorhome with Marilyn by his side, and his great friendships with neighbors. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will carry with them the many life lessons he shared. The biggest lessons being “Count Your Blessings” and “ENJOY” always printed in all caps with many, many exclamation points.

The family will be forever grateful to his loving caregiver, Magda (Tia), Mercy Health Hospice, and the nurses and doctors at Javon Bea Mercy Hospital, Rockford.

He will be missed by those who loved him most, his children Jerry (Sandy) Snyder, Kevin Snyder, Roxanne (Mark) Lund, Penny (John) Yurkew; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, five brothers, one great-grandchild, and his loving wife Marilyn.

A private family committal service will be held at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church.
