Edward A. Wilson III of Rockford passed away Sunday May 11, 2014 at Anam Care. He was born November 4, 1933 in Detroit, MI the son of Edward A. and Ella Mae (Garrison) Wilson II. He graduated from the University of Detroit. He then went on to get his Master's Degree at the University of Illinois Chicago. He married Mary Ellen Naze in Hawaii on January 31, 1984. He worked for many years at Sears, Roebuck, and Company. Edward also worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a highway planner. He served in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen, grandson, Ian Alexander Droessler-Wilson, granddaughter, Adelyne Droessler, sister, Joan Wilson, many in-laws, and many nieces and nephews whom he inspired and for whom he was the first cheerleader. He was predeceased by his parents, his son, Justin Francis Wilson, four siblings, Beth, Yvonne, Richard and Judith and his father-in-law, Deacon Anthony Naze, for whom had great admiration and respect. He was loved by and loved Mary Ellen's parents, Tony and Rita Naze, who were both very influential in his life.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1pm Friday May 16, 2014 in St Rita Catholic Church, 6284 Valley Knoll Drive, Rockford. Visitation from 11:30 until 12:45 Friday in the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Satori Foundation, Anam Care and Serenity Hospice.
