Edwin "Ed" Zahorik Jr. of Rockford passed away Tuesday November19, 2013 in his home after a short battle with cancer. He was born February 8, 1928 in Hawarden, Iowa. The son of Edwin V. Zahorik Sr and Lillian F. Falt. He served in the Army as an Engineer. He achieved the rank of T-5. In 1951 he graduated from the State University of Iowa Business College and immediately went into Sears Executive Training Program. Later he was transferred to Chicago as Assistant Buyer of all types of uniforms for catalog and all retail stores. He married Helen J. Williams Pearce in Rockford on August 19, 1956. Leaving Sears, he joined Sundstrand. From there, he moved to Micro switch, a division of Honeywell, where he was involved in the very early computer business. Survivors include his wife Helen. Two sons; Robert (Linda) Pearce and Edwin (Sherry) Zahorik Five Grandchildren; Matthew (Nebiat) Pearce, Jennifer Pearce, Christopher Pearce, Ian (Erin) Zahorik and Julie (Edward) Nesby Three great grandchildren; Skylar Zahorik, Zoey Nesby and Christopher Pearce. Sister; Leora Zahorik Predeceased by his parents.
Funeral Services at 11:00 am Tuesday November 26, 2013 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home 3910 N. Rockton Ave with Reverend Frank Ciprys officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 10am until service time Tuesday in the funeral home. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
