Ernest R. Manno

Ernest Ronald “Ron” Manno, 85, Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Ron was born on July 29,1940 in Chicago, the son of Ernest and Geraldine Manno. He was a veteran, a proud member of the Marine Corps and had a great love for his country. He married his best friend, the love of his life, Shirley (Murphy) Manno on February 4, 1961. He retired after a successful career with Kraft General Foods. Ron and Shirley were dedicated members of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman in his younger days and loved to cook, but was happiest when spending time with family. 

Survivors include daughters, Joan Bennett, Dawn Gille, Lynn Manno and Kristine (Eric) Sommerfield; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Kellen Lawler) Bennett, Amber (Ryan) Lindberg, Kristine (Matt) Protz and Kyle (Shannon) Sommerfield; several great-grandchildren which he loved and cherished greatly. Predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley Manno and infant son, Michael R. Manno.

 Memorial Mass on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL 61107. Inurnment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL.
