Gwendolyn A. "Wendy" Sharp

Gwendolyn Anita Sharp (Birkholtz), known as Wendy, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at her home in La Moille, Illinois, at the age of 51. Wendy was born on April 11, 1974, and lived life on her own terms. She was always very strong-willed, and full of wit and personality. She deeply loved her family, especially her grandson, Logan, who brought her endless joy. Her heart was also with her beloved dog Max, who passed earlier this year and is by her side again. 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Kerry Sharp; her father, Neil (Leslie) Birkholtz; her children, Joseph Birkholtz, Kayla Nelson, and Eric Nelson; her treasured grandchildren, Logan and Brooklyn; her brother-in-law, Scott (Julia Fultz) Sharp; her sister-in-law, Candee Sharp; and her step-daughter, Alex (Chris) Sledge; as well as numerous other family and friends who will miss her dearly. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Leslie Birkholtz; her brother, Steve Birkholtz; her son, Alan Nelson; and her brother-in-law, Joe (Candee) Sharp, all of whom she now joins in peace. 

Wendy was a proud fan of the Green Bay Packers and loved watching the games on Sunday. She spent a happy part of her life in Florida with her husband Kerry, where she felt free and at peace. Though she would have stayed there forever, she returned to Illinois to be near those she loved most as her health declined. 

Her spirit lives on in the memories of everyone who knew her; in her strength, wit, her laughter, and the love she carried for her family and four-legged friends.
