Harold C Tietz

Harold C. Tietz, 90 of Rockford died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Anam Care. He was born August 5, 1923 the son of Carl and Ruth (Jameson) Tietz. Harold was proud to be a member of the first graduating class from East High School in 1941. He married the love of his life and best friend, Patricia M. Lynde at St. James Catholic Church on May 3, 1945. He was co-owner of Tietz –Lynde Company from 1946 until his retirement in 2005. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church, former member of the Elks, Navy, and SMSF Clubs, was a licensed pilot and belonged to the Blackhawk Flying Club. Harold also took time to enjoy many fishing trips with family and friends. He loved to travel the world with Patsy, but he especially enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Lake Mills, WI. He loved golfing at Tyranena and lazy days on the lake with his family and friends. He was a bit of an adventurer being the only Tietz family member to go skydiving. He was a kind and caring man with an open heart and robust sense of humor, he will be missed dearly by all. The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice, to his Doctors, Dr. Darland and Dr. Iqbal and especially to to his loving team of care givers at Anam Care. The family also wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the loving devotion of Harold's neice Kathleen (Layng) Greenberg and her husband Barry whose love and support has been constant and unwaivering.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Pat; children, Jeff (Sherri) Tietz, Greg (Linda) Tietz, Carla Tietz and Mark Tietz; grandsons, Brandon Tietz and Brent Tietz. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norman Tietz.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. Interment will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation Monday, May 19 from 5-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary service to be recited at 8 p.m. Visitation continues on Tuesday at church from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to Anam Care, 8104 Sayer Rd, Rockford, IL 61108.
