Hope A. Williams

Hope A. (McElhany) Williams, 79 passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Serentiy Hospice and Home. Born February 1, 1933 in Chicago, Il. Daughter of George and Maude N. McElhany. She married Charles R. (Chuck) Williams on October 22, 1950 in Rockford at Court Street United Methodist Church. Hope was employed by the Rockford Memorial Hospital in the Outpatient Clinic for 14 years. She had been married to Chuck for almost 62 years after they met at West Rockford High School. Of the five sisters, she became the first to gain her high school diploma. She loved to travel so any time Chuck went on a golfing or fishing trip she would call her dear friend Ebby Sword and they would take a bus trip to a new place they had never been before, favorites were Branson, Washington D.C., New Orleans and Florida. Hope suffered for the last 6 months with a series of illnesses which resulted in her death on September 4, 2012. A cross with the words a?Æ?a?¢a?¢""Å¡a?a?""¦""Everything Happens for a reasona?Æ?a?¢a?¢""Å¡a?a?""?a? reflects her view of the world. Survivors include her husband Chuck; Sons, Greg and Brian; brother and sisterinlaw Ronald (Joyce) Williams and their children Brett and Kerry; Nephew Stuart (Nadine) Williams and granddaughter Shania Tucker; Grandsons Gregory J. and Bryan Williams and great grandchildren Isabelle and Cash Tucker. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lois Method, Beryl Hogan, Lola Jones, and Lorraine Boggs. Visitation will be on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory (Mulford Chapel) 1860 S. Mulford Road from 1 3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. conducted by Dr. Chuck V. Olson Chaplain of PA Peterson Center for Health. Memorials may be made to the Rockford Boys & Girls Club or the Rockford Rescue Mission.
