Rockford—Jack R. Cerniglia, 94 of Rockford died Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Crimson Pointe. Born November 30, 1921 in Rockford to Sam and Mary (Manalli) Cerniglia. Jack was an avid golfer. He and his brother Joe, owned Cerniglia;s Tavern for many years, and were well-known for their bowling achievements.
Jack was most proud of his family and Military Service. He was an Air Force Medic, in the Pacific during WWII.
Survivors; Children, Sam Cerniglia, Mary Linda Torchia, Rosanna (Fred) DeBoe and Jacki Smith; Grandchildren; Ryan (Ashley) Torchia, Kristen Ketterhagen, Michael Cerniglia, Jack (Marsha) DeBoe and Freddy DeBoe; Great-grandchildren Jackson and Isabella Torchia. Predeceased by his wife, Marion; Daughter-in-law Susan Cerniglia; Grandson, Tim Ketterhagen; and Son-in-law Sam Torchia. Special Thanks to Nephews Chuck and Anthony Cichella, Family Friend Barb Manning and New Good Friend Rex. Jack’s family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice and Crimson Pointe for their kind and compassionate care.
