Jacob Karl Schumaker

November 12, 1989 — May 24, 2014

Jacob Karl Schumaker, of Rockford died Saturday, May 24, 2014. He was born on November 12, 1989 the son of Steve and Martina (Wulf) Schumaker. Survivors include his parents, brother Jason (Katy) Schumaker; uncles Arthur (Bert Noel) Schumaker, Rainer (Jessica) Wulf, cousin Otto Wulf and his aunt Dianna (David) Stevenson. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
As he was growing up, Jake took pride in being a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 123 where he earned the distinction of Eagle Scout and made lifetime friends. A graduate of Guilford H.S. Class of 2008, he went on to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Rock Valley College. In his work, he used his creative skills to help bring life to films, video productions and outdoor events.
Jake was, and is, a free spirit. He loved the outdoors and shared his enjoyment with everyone. He filled his life with as many new experiences as he could and pursued every one of them with passion. He chose a wonderful group of friends and treated them with kindness, caring and respect. He loved his family with all his heart and has left us, and his friends, with some of the best memories we could ever have.
We will celebrate those memories at a memorial service on Tuesday, June 3rd at the Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens, 1354 No. 2nd Street, Rockford, Illinois. We will gather for a short memorial service at 5:30 p.m. After the service we will have time for refreshments, stories and a chance to enjoy the Gardens as Jake would want.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation, to the Jake Schumaker Memorial Fund with the Boy Scouts of America, Blackhawk Area Council, 2820 McFarland Rd, Rockford 61107. The funds will be used to help other young men experience the enjoyment and challenge of the outdoors. Condolences may be extended online at: www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
