Jacob Nathanial Torgeson

Jacob Nathanial Torgeson, 18, Roscoe, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023, due to injuries from a car accident. He was born June 30, 2005, in Rockford, the son of Jeffery Torgeson and Michelle Mattingly. Jacob was a 2023 graduate of Hononegah High School. He enjoyed studying history and was ready to attend Rock Valley College and then Michigan State University to become a History Professor. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion for 15 years.

Survived by his parents, Jeffery M. Torgeson and Michelle (Jim Lafray) Mattingly; his paternal grandmother and paternal step-grandfather, Donna (Richard) Torgeson Heerdt; his maternal grandmother, Linda DeGroff; many aunts, uncles and cousins and his brotherly friends, Ayden, Colton, Donald, Ethan and Anthony. Predeceased by his step father, Henry Mattingly; his maternal grandfather, Hugh DeGroff, his paternal grandfather, Ralph Torgeson, Jr, his uncle, Richard DeGroff and his auntie, Pauly.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Scandinavian Cemetery, 1700 Rural St. Rockford. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 12:30 P.M. until 4:30 P.M. at the American Legion Carlson Post #1207, 1011 S. Alpine Rd. Rockford.
