James Walter Myers died December 6, 2025, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born February 10, 1941, at Freeport Memorial Hospital to Ethel Carol and Ellis (Pete) Walter Myers (Polo). He graduated from Polo High School in 1959, and later graduated from DeVry Technical Institute. He entered the Armed Forces and was stationed at Saigon Vietnam in 1965 and 1966. After the Army he worked for Sundstrand Aviation in Rockford IL and retired after 33 years in December 1999.
Jim married Lorna Quin and she later passed away on March 1, 1971. Jim is survived by 2 sons: Clayton Joseph and Samuel Glenn. He has 2 stepdaughters: Linda and Virgina. Grandchildren include Shannon, Chris, Zach (wife Amanda), and Melissa, plus several nieces and nephews. He has a twin sister, Jane Wohrley of (Dixon); and deceased brothers, Arnold (Polo) and Richard (Belvidere) and a sister, Carol Marie.
Jim belonged to several organizations including a lifelong VFW and Eagles members. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golf, horseshoes and hosting his famous Fish Fry. He enjoyed his winter home in Sebring, FL for many years.
Funeral service will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford IL, 61108, on Friday, December 12th with a visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served following the services.
