James R. Bacher

James R. Bacher, 81, of Rockford, died on September 20, 2007 in his family home.nbsp; James was born on March 8, 1926 in Vincennes, IN the son of Frank and Dollie (Snider) Bacher.nbsp; James married Norma L. Cooper in Vincennes, IN on September 14, 1946 and then moved to Rockford in 1949. nbsp; James was a US Navy Veteran of WW II and had received the WW II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.nbsp; James worked as a machinist and in building maintenance for Elco Industries for 36-1/2 years and also worked in building maintenance for the Millenium Center for 15 years. James was a member of Brooke Road United Methodist Church, the American Legion Robert Carlson Post 1207 and Deputy Grand Chief of Baltic 56.nbsp; James was honest, hardworking, had a great sense of humor, loved people and traveling and always said his work was never done. nbsp; James is survived by his wife, Norma; his children, Jeanne (Larry) Everson, Terry (Eileen) Bacher and Linda (David) Fosse; his grandchildren, Ron Reece, Jr., Scott Reece, Chad Fosse, Matthew Bacher, Amy Harbison, Joseph Schaible and Amanda Ignacio; his great-granddaughter, Layne Harbison; his two brothers, Frank (Glenna) Bacher and John (Marge) Bacher; his sister, Pat (Jack) Anderson and special friend Jeffrey Gibbs, age 7.nbsp;nbsp; James was preceded in death by his parents. nbsp; A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brooke Road United Methodist Church, 1404 Brooke Road, Rockford with Rev. Cynthia Zolk officiating.nbsp;nbsp; Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 p.m. 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
