Janet A. Kloweit

September 11, 1944 — July 11, 2025

Rockford

With deep love and heavy hearts, we share that Janet Ann Schrom Kloweit gained her angel wings on July 11, 2025. To know Jan was to feel her warmth wrap around you like a hug — her kindness, generosity, and boundless love touched countless lives and will live on forever in the hearts of those lucky enough to call her family and friend.

Jan brought light and laughter wherever she went. She grew up surrounded by the love of her parents, Gerald and Arlene Schrom, who now welcome her home in heaven. She carried their lessons of compassion, faith, and family into everything she did.

Jan graduated from Muldoon High School and Edgewood University in Madison. After graduating from Edgewood, Jan went on to earn her master’s degree in education. For 33 years, she poured her heart into teaching young children in Rockford, always seeing the good in every child and inspiring them to see it in themselves. She always worked hard — whether in the classroom, at home, or by the side of those who needed her. Jan believed in the dignity of hard work.

Jan’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She was the beloved and devoted wife of Ken Kloweit — her partner in life and love for 58 beautiful years. She was the heart and guiding light — the proud matriarch of a family spanning three generations.

Her love shines on through her daughters, Kimberly, Jerry, and granddaughter Madison Hoiness, and Kelly Kloweit (Scottsdale) who will carry her spirit forward with every kind word, warm smile, and generous act they share with the world.

Her loss is deeply felt by her brothers and sisters of the Schrom family: Rich, Peggy, Andy, Jessica, AJ, Michael, Danielle, Oliver, and Declan. Her sister and best friend Nancy Trevey and the Trevey family — Bill, Mick, Kate, Grace, Anna, and Caroline. Martha, Scott, Fitzgerald, and June Litvin Trevey. Jerry, Cheryl, Lindsay, and Edwin Abd. Jack, Dianna, Emma, and Benny. Bob, Laurie, Danny, Michelle, Bradly, Kelly, Melanie, and Hudson — each of whom she loved so dearly. She will be forever cherished by the Kloweit family: Jeff, Sarah, Darby, and Cole Stradmann. Jamie, Becky, Tyler, Vivi, Sam, Laura, and all Jungbauer family members of Milwauke, WI area. Cousin Tom Fitzgerald, dearly beloved cousin and friend Terri Fitzgerald Griffin, and her special neighbor and most trusted friend, Goldie Pekarsky.

Janet was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church. She was a member of the Winnebago County Retired Teachers Association, the Catholic Women’s League, and Alpha Delta Kappa educational sorority. She was a loyal member of the same bridge club for 55 years with her dear friends: Nancy Trevey, Sue McMillan, Judy Wilhelmi, Mary Norman, Phillis Provenzano, Mary Weldon, Elba Stirlen, and Mary Sue Graeff Tate.

Jan’s generosity knew no bounds — she freely shared what she could with friends and family in times of need and taught by example that true wealth lies in giving. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: tending to her garden, filling her home with flowers, and spending carefree summers at Lake Ripley surrounded by those she loved most.

Jan was the oldest child and the heart of her family — a gentle hand to hold, an open door, a listening ear, and the softest place to land. She filled every gathering with warmth and laughter and taught us all that love is best shown through the little things: a warm meal, an encouraging word, a place to rest your head.

Though our hearts ache at her passing, we find comfort in knowing she lives on in every act of love and kindness we share. Her spirit will forever guide us and remind us to lead with love, just as she did.

We love you forever, Jan. Until we meet again.
