Jean T. Bodorff

Jean T. Bodorff, 102, of Rockford, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Sienna on Brendenwood. Born March 11, 1912 in Mattoon, the daughter of William F. and Adele (Upmeyer) Thompson. She married Jack H. Bodorff in 1932 in Rockford Illinois. Worked for the Rockford Register Star as a social columnist and was known as "Miss Here and There" until the late 1920's. She was also a member of the Court Street Methodist Church, Rockford Country Club, Century Club of Rockford, and the Delta Gamma Sorority.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane B. Boynton of Bethesda, MD; son, Richard J. Bodorff of McLean, VA; granddaughters, Lynn Mahaffie of Bethesda, MD and Anne Aspen of Ft. Collins, CO; Greatgranddaughters, Shelby and Grace Mahaffie of Bethesda MD. Predeceased by husband Jack H. Bodorff in 2000 (at age 99) and Sister Alice Pickett.
Memorial Service 1 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the chapel at St. Anne Center 4405 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107. With Pam Lojewski officiating. Friends wishing to remember Jean may do so by visiting the Centennial Walk adjacent to Sinnissippi Lagoon, which was named in her honor on her 100th Birthday in 2012. A bench on the path bears her initials, J.T.B. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rockford Park District Foundation.
