Jeffery T. Smith

Jeffery T. Smith, 61, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. He was born on March 23, 1964, in Dekalb, Illinois, to Orlando and Beverly (Jacox) Smith. Jeff graduated from Shabbona High School, class of 1982. In 2012 he met Traci and moved to Rockford. He started working for A Place for Space, where he was still currently employed. Jeff was very involved with the people that were close to him; he enjoyed helping his friends with their projects or business ventures, making unforgettable memories with the Guys and Their Wives, spending time with his family and long phone calls with his kids, or introducing his love of nature to Traci. They wed on August 26, 2023, and had their honeymoon by the mountains in Tennessee. When he was younger, he took fishing trips in the Boundary Water Canoe Area of Minnesota, and when those trips were no longer feasible, he brought his love of nature to any landscape he could transform. He will be missed for his big smile, big heart and sense of humor, but he will always be remembered by the memories he created and the helping hand that he had.

He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife, Traci; his children Logan (Katina) Smith and Meghan Smith; bonus daughter Jordan (fiancée Stella) Schaffer; granddaughters Audrey and Autumn; his mother Beverly Smith; sisters Denise (Dennis) Keating and Danielle Burke. He is predeceased by his father, Orlando Smith.

A time to celebrate Jeff’s life will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at The Bricks, 125 Walnut St, Cherry Valley, IL 61016.
