Joan E. Mitchell

Joan Elisabeth (Boriske) Mitchell was born March 25, 1928, to Frank and Elis. She died on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Grew up in Murphysboro, IL.nbsp; Graduated from the University of Illinois in accounting with Bronze Tablet honors.nbsp; She married her high school sweetheart, Lee, in 1949; they raised their family in Rockford.nbsp; A faithful Catholic, Joan was sweet and kind with a heart of gold, visiting the elderly for years with her dog to spread joy.nbsp; All who knew her loved her.nbsp; She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, aerobics, her precious dog Lucie, traveling with Lee, lunch with friends, antiquing and visiting southern Illinois.nbsp; Joan is survived by her devoted husband Lee; children Lynn (John) Boreen and Bruce Mitchell; grandchildren Sarah, Mark and Carol Boreen; Jeff and Kevin Mitchell; beloved sisterinlaw, Jane Purcell; nieces, Janice (Dave) Smith and Nancy Ward and great nieces.nbsp; Predeceased by her children, Ann and Scott and brotherinlaw, Joe Purcell.nbsp; The family would like to thank the superb nursing staff on E4 at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Joans Home Instead caregivers and the excellent nursing and therapy staffs at P.A. Peterson.nbsp; Joan, you are so nbsp;loved and will be missed by all who knew you.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.on Saturday, February 25, 2012 in Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Edward J. Seisser officiating.nbsp; Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Mass.nbsp; Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church. Arrangements were completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel.nbsp;
