Joanne Alt

Joanne Alt, 81, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, in Oregon, IL, with her family by her side. She was born April 23, 1944, in Deadwood, SD to the late John and Maxine Mulquin (Goss). She graduated from Lead High School in 1962.

Joanne graduated from St. John’s McNamara School of Nursing in 1965 in Rapid City, South Dakota. She met the love of her life, Dick in South Dakota, when he was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Joanne and Dick were married on November 25, 1966. Joanne was an OR nurse at OSF St. Anthony and Swedish American Hospital before leaving to become the Director of Nursing and Materials Management at Rockford Ambulatory Surgery Center. She worked at Swan Hills Golf Course until she retired in 2018. Joanne and Dick spent many years snow birding in Florida and finally moved full time to Cape Coral FL in 2018. Joanne loved reading, the beach, golfing and was the #1 cheerleader for her 3 grandchildren.

Joanne is survived by her two children Mike (Jill) Alt, Melanie (Mike) Wingo; grandchildren Hannah (Blayne) and Ryan Alt and Maggie Wingo. She is also survived by her sibling, Judy Hall, nephew Adam (Holly and their children, Jake and Kaitlyn) Barrett and cousin Candy (Jim, their daughter, Kori, and their grandchild, Laci) Kelsey. She is also survived by many Alt relatives, who treated her like family.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and grandson Brody Wingo.

The family would like to say a special thank you to UW Health Carbonne Cancer Center and very special thank you to Serenity Hospice and Home.

The family is having a private Memorial Service.
