John C. Leverenz

John Charles Leverenz, 83, of Rockford, IL passed away Friday, February 11, 2022.

He was born November 4, 1938 in Sheboygan, WI, the son of Charles and Myrtle Leverenz. He married Betsy Kaye Hielsberg on October 12, 1963.

John was educated at Sheboygan North High School and Carrol College in Waukesha, WI where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Over the years he worked for Glens Falls Insurance Company, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, the H.C. Prange Company and Carpetland U.S.A.

John was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where he was a greeter, pew scooter and helped clean up the church ground in the spring and fall.

John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betsy; son Michael (Marie) of Troy, MI, daughter Marcia (Anthony) of Brookfield, WI, daughter Debra (Mark) of St. Petersburg, FL, son David (Carmen) of Brookfield, WI; seven grandchildren, Kurt Leverenz, Elise Leverenz, Sydney (Kyle) Birch, Alissa Grace, Jack Leverenz, Alex Leverenz, Claire Leverenz; great-grandchild, Mattaniah Birch; sister, Barbara (James) Schafer of Fort Atkinson, WI; nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and son, Steven.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service, located at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Rd. Rockford, IL 61107.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ United Methodist Church or ProMedica/Heartland Hospice.
