JOHN L. RUNGREN, 84, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility. Born March 11, 1932 in Rockford, IL. Son of Arthur & Hulda (Brosinska) Rungren. John graduated from East High School, class of 1950. Veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Alaska from 1952-1954. John was employed by Majestic Tool & Engineering as a machinist for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Rungren, son David (Sandi), Sarona, Wisconsin, daughter Kathleen (Michael) Peterson-Lepczynski Chicago, IL, son Mike, Waukesha, Wisconsin. Sisters-in law, Barbara (Tom) Setliffe, Centennial Colorado, Nina Rungren, Rockford and Dorothy Rungren, Hawaii. Grandfather of 7 and Great-grandpa to 5, several nieces and nephews. Barette Barker of Rockford (caregiver) and canine pal Lacey. Predeceased by brothers, Ralph, Clifton, Maynard, Richard and Gordon Rungren.
A special thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially to Steve and Becca for their dedication and loving care for the terminally ill. The second floor staff at Brookdale Assisted Living were also wonderful in caring for the residents.
Graveside services will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Stillman Rd. Oregon, IL at 1 P. M. Saturday September 10. 2016 with Pastor Andrew Kayes presiding.
