John "Mick" M. Hudzinski

John Michael “Mick” Hudzinski, 81, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025. Mick was born in Rockford on December 6, 1943, son to John B. and Eileen (Featherston) Hudzinski. He graduated from St. Thomas High School, class of 1961, and went on to work 30 years at Nicor before retiring. At the age of 13 Mick met Madalene C. Hudzinski, and they wed on April 24, 1965, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Rockford. They were married 57 years before her passing on December 11, 2022. They were proud members of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, VFW Post 342 from 1956 to 1964. He and Madalene were also lifelong members of St. Rita Catholic Church. They enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and Mick was even president of the Illinois Packer Backers for 20 years starting in 1975. Fond memories for their family include fishing, camping and traveling; Mick and his family were seasonal campers at Grand Valley Campground in Wisconsin for over 30 years. He also enjoyed a few competitive bass tournaments through Bassmaster. Most of all, Mick cherished his time making memories with his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He will be missed for his fun, loving and caring personality as well as his big heart and great sense of humor.

He will be missed by those who loved him most, his children Michael (Tina) Hudzinski and Tina (Benjamin) Hudzinski-Newell; his grandchildren John (Cassie), Sydney, Garrett Hedberg, Ashley and Hannah Hudzinski; great-grandchildren Michael and Mason Hudzinski; his sister Beverly Sullivan (Jim Robertson) and sisters-in-law Josephine (Charles) Larson and Ann Hudzinski; special friends Jim (Diane) Gibson, Steve (Marilyn) Meyers and Carl (Betty) Try; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Mick is predeceased by his wife and his parents; daughter Theresa Marie; brothers David and James Hudzinski; his parents-in-law John and Antionette Anastasi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. A memorial Mass will take place the following day, Tuesday September 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive, Rockford, IL 61109.
