Joyce G. Pennow

Joyce Grace Pennow, 95, of Rockford, IL died on Sunday, November 19, 2023. She was born on March 3, 1928, in Rockford, IL, to Anthony and Grace (Evans) Kruit.

Joyce was a long-time member of Second First Church. She worked for Woodward Governor, retiring after 13 years of service. Joyce then married her loving husband and travel companion of 55 years, Walter J. Pennow Jr. on August 21, 1965, and she was caregiver to their 5 children. She enjoyed spending her time with her family and making memories traveling all around the world.

Joyce is survived by her son, John Pennow; daughters, Patty Healton, Sherry (Steve) Brandon, Janet Mazzucca and Nancy (George) Belt; grandchildren, Josh (Chanda) Healton, Jason (Pearl) Barry, Stefanie (Justin) Boyce, Gabe Herman, and Alice Simpson; 6 great-grandchildren and special friend, Audrey Williams. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walt; son, Ricky Savalla and grandson, Todd Barry.

A Celebration of Life for both Joyce and Walt will be held Friday, November 24, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the celebration at 1:00 p.m. at Second First Church, 318 N. Church Street, Rockford, IL 61101.
