Leonard Piccione

Dr. Leonard N. Piccione, 89, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 in his home. Born May 22, 1925, in Rockford, the son of Joseph and Rosalia (Calamia) Piccione. He served in the US Navy in the Korean Conflict. He was a doctor in the St. Louis area for many years. A kind, gentle and wonderful man who will be missed.
Survived by his niece, Anna (John) Owens; nephew, Anthony Giovingo, both of Rockford; great nephews, Leonard Zupancic of Rockford and Richard (Lisa) Zupancic and their son, Nicholas Zupancic, of Rockton; great niece, Anna Oldfield and her son, Caleb Oldfield, of Howell, Michigan; very special friend, Paul (Kris) Dent of Oroville, California. Preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Katie and Tony Giovingo, brother and sister-in-law, Angelo and Ruth Piccione and special friend, Westley Dent.
Memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 North Rockton Ave. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
