Linda Joy Johnson

Linda Joy Johnson, 78, Rockford, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born in Rockford on May 17, 1947, the daughter of James and Joann (Latino) Scida. Linda was a graduate of Muldoon High School, class of 1965, and then graduated from Marycrest College in Davenport, IA. Linda married Ronald Johnson on January 30, 1976. He passed away on April 2, 2018. She taught first grade at St. Bernadette Catholic School and then entered a second career working for Schnuck’s Foods until her retirement. Linda was a longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son, James Johnson of Rockford and her daughter. Julie (Arthur) Crossett of Viera, FL; her grandchildren, Arthur Crossett IV and Ezra Crossett; her sisters, Mary (Terry) Anderson of Rockford, Donna Vuttera of Roscoe, Katherine Tway of Orfordville, WI and Patricia Bailey of Rockford; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, second father, Charles DeMolli, her husband, Ron, her sister Charlene DeMolli and her brother-in-law, Richard Vuttera.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Av. Rockford. Private family burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Friday at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL.
