Linda A. Larson Dingus

Linda Ann Larson Dingus, 92, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on July 25, 2025, from bladder complications. Born on May 8, 1933, at Swedish American Hospital, Linda was the eldest daughter of Emanuel and Marguerite (Brannen) Larson. She graduated from East High School in 1951 with a college scholarship in sewing. She declined the opportunity to attend college to begin working at Amerock Hardware where she met, then married Harold Dingus from 1955 to 1968. They had two children: Timothy Dingus (Sandra) of Roscoe, Illinois and Tamara Kahler (Michael) of Chandler, Arizona. Linda enjoyed traveling, eating cookies, celebrating holidays through extensive decorations, and embracing every interest of her three grandchildren; Katie (Aaron) Foshie and Casey (Lauren) Kahler both of Arizona and Erik Engstrom of Denver, Colorado. Beyond family activities, Linda spent many of her younger years riding horses and motorcycles. She was passionate about a well-kept home and yard where she hosted several annual parties and family reunions. Linda always made time to volunteer at her children’s and grandchildren’s schools, church, Boy Scouts and City Hall. She had a true love for all animals and made a variety of them her pets; rabbits, chinchillas, parrots, pigs, chameleons, and, of course, dogs and cats. Linda is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Harold, of West Plains, Missouri, her younger sister, Mona Mernin of Bulverde, Texas and her parents. Linda’s suspicious wink, spunk and positive attitude will be greatly missed.

A visitation to celebrate Linda’s life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, followed by a funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Capron Cemetery.
