Lois Leota Haskell, 90 of Rockford passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. She was born on August 10, 1923 in McPherson County, SD the daughter of Elmer and Bertha (Burrows Root) Haskell. Lois attended Guilford School and East High School after her family moved to a rural farm in Rockford in 1937. A devout member and Secretary at the Church of the Brethren for many years and was also a secretary at JL Clarke, Lloyd Hearing Aids and for the Christian Woman's Club. Lois was a very active and on the go person, she was a volunteer for numerous organizations including, Midway Village, Rockford Library, Highland Hospital in Belvidere, Pinecrest Nursing Home in Byron. Lois was a dear friend and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include her sister, Lavera Anderson; nieces, Sharon McLoughlin and Sandra Clarke; great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; cousins, Don Haskell, Donna (Ron) Haskell and David (Denise) Haskell and dear friends, Margaret and Brian Clarke and family. She was preceded in death by parents and brother, Bruce. We commit her into the arms of her savior. Absent from the body and present with the Lord and present with the Lord which is far better.
Memorial service Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, 3470 N. Alpine Rd. Rockford, IL. . A private burial will be held that morning in Arlington Memorial Park.
