Lorraine “Lori” Dougherty, 56, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in Rockford, IL. Lori was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 15, 1960 to Alfred John and Margaret Elizabeth (Wilkinson) Dougherty. Originally from Philadelphia and Havertown, PA, Lori moved to Springfield, VA with her parents and siblings in 1972. She lived in Wardensville, WV with her two sons, Matthew and Andrew and Tom Lazo before traveling to Rockford in recent years. Lori’s passion to help others blossomed with Rockford Rescue Mission, where she enjoyed the love of many friends and continued on to a wonderful “church family” at Rockford First Church. Lori’s journey touched many lives, and all those who met Lori loved her caring spirit and joyous laugh. Her endless love for her sons was only exceeded by her love for Jesus.
Predeceased by her parents and sister Deborah Anne Savage, Lori is survived by her children Matthew and Andrew Lazo, brothers Michael, Joseph and Daniel Dougherty; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission (http://rockfordrescuemission.org/index.php?page=donations) or Rockford First Church (https://www.rockfordfirst.com).
