Lucille “Lucy” A. Johnson, 74, of Winnebago, passed away on April 11, 2024. She was born on February 13, 1950, in Rockford, the daughter of Irvan and Rowena (Loofboro) Edwards. She married David “Dave” on June 22, 1968, in Rockford. Lucy worked as a machine operator at Rockford Products and Testors. She enjoyed spending her mornings on the patio drinking her coffee, sewing, and gardening. Lucy and Dave spent time in South Padre Island, Texas where they spent many days at the beach and visiting with friends within their community. She was a loving, thoughtful, and determined wife, mom, gammie, and sister.
She is survived by those who loved her most, husband, Dave; daughter, Lisa Scales; granddaughter, Sophie Scales; son-in-law, Corey (Missy) Scales; brother, Dennis (Dixie) Edwards; sisters-in-law, Donna Edwards, Judy Miller, Susan Griffith; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Darlene McElwee, Marilyn Mason, Kathy Ferrell, and many more. She is predeceased by her parents, Irvan and Rowena; brother, Bruce Edwards, sister, Connie Edwards; in-laws, Helen and Louis Johnson.
The family wants to give a special thank you to the nurses and care team at OSF St. Anthony and OSF St. Francis Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Westlake Village Community Center, 3677 Westlake Village Dr, Winnebago, IL 61088. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
