Lucy Elvira Chu

Lucy Chu, 52, of Rochelle passed away unexpectedly on September 14, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 12, 1972, she is the daughter of Gerardo and Elvira Chu. She is affectionately known as “Tia BB” by her nieces and nephews and simply “BB” by the rest of her family, with whom she loved spending time, laughing, and telling jokes.

A true Chicago Cubs fan, Lucy also loved ‘80s music, the wonders of science fiction, and the artistry of makeup. Her intelligence, frugality, and immense creativity shone through in everything she touched. Whether it was creating Halloween costumes for the kids, decorating for the holidays, or setting up birthday parties, she was an extremely talented crafter. Lucy could turn any pile of materials into something fabulous. Her skill as a crafter was matched only by her green thumb, tending to plants and flowers with expert care.

She was very nurturing, helping to care for her nieces and nephews growing up and helping to care for our dad when he was sick. Lucy will be remembered for her knowledge, talents, sarcasm, and her amazing smile.

Lucy is preceded in death by her dad (Gerardo Chu). She is survived by her mom (Elvira Chu), five siblings (Silvia, Annette, Eva, Melissa, and Adam), three brother in laws (Steven, Ryan, and Barry) and eight nieces and nephews (Sophia, Victoria, Alexandra, Olivia, Jacob, Sean, Liam, and Eamon).

Private services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025.
