ROCKFORD - Mae Julia "Judy" Anderson died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, while at Rosewood Care Center. She was born May 7, 1922, in Beatrice, Nebraska to John and Eleanor (Gereck) Ewald. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1941, and married Ernest H. Anderson on September 4, 1943, at Fort Riley, Kansas. She was a resident of Rockford, IL since 1945. Judy was a government inspector in a munitions factory during WWII, active in PTA (room mother), den mother in Cub Scouts, Brownie assistant leader, elections board judge 25+ years, bowled 34 years, enjoyed cards and dominoes with friends, enjoyed crafts, quilting, cooking, and fishing with her husband. She helped her husband with secretarial work for his building contracting business. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, and her daughter, Kandis Ecklund in 1992. She is survived by her son, Bryon (Joan) Anderson; her daughter, Becky (John) Rambow; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friends, Marilyn Scheideggar and Chris Metz. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford Illinois, with visitation from 1:30 p.m. until time of service.
