Marc Carman Laurent, 54, lifelong Rockford resident died at 11:05 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2007 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer.nbsp; Born September 1, 1952, son of Kenneth H. and Phyllis Carman Laurent. US Army veteran. Married Anita L. Hildebrand in Rockton on May 5, 1984.nbsp; Member of 5th Avenue AA. Employed as a Unit Counselor at Rosecrance where he was known as Mr. L.nbsp; Previously had been employed as a machinist at Camcar as well as several other local companies for over 25 years.nbsp; Taz, as many affectionately called him, had a huge, unselfish, faith- fillednbsp; heart.nbsp; He never met a stranger and welcomed everyone into his home, fed them, and was a loyal friend to all. nbsp;Marc lovednbsp; Harleys, was a former member of ABATE and enjoyed playing poker and drinking his coffee. nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Anita; children, Sean Laurent, Loves Park, Sgt. Andrew Laurent, USMC, stationed in Hawaii, Melissa Byars, Machesney Park and Joshua (Naomi) Byars,nbsp; Rockford; granddaughter, Mary-Shai Byars, Machesney Park; parents, Kenneth and Phyllis Laurent, Rockford; sister, Jean Laurent and nephew Tyler of Loves Park.nbsp; Also survived by his father-in-law, Doug Hildebrand, Rockford; sister-in-law, Brenda Hildebrand, Loves Park and brother-in-law, John (Cindy) Hildebrand, Rockford; 2 nieces, a nephew, former wife, Patricia Laurent, Loves Park and numerous friends and family members.nbsp; Predeceased by his mother-in-law, Gladys Hildebrand.nbsp; Marcs family would like to give a special thank you to the staff on 4 West and the Cancer Center at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, especially Kris, Angel and Stacey, and also the staff of Odyssey Hospice.nbsp; nbsp; Funeral service at 3p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Scotty Wetlaufer leading the service.nbsp; Burial in Carman Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 5-8p.m. Thursdaynbsp; and from 2p.m. until time of the service on Friday.nbsp;nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.nbsp; Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;
