Margaret Josephine Livermore

Margaret Josephine “Joey” Livermore, 80, of Chicago, died on September 14, 2025, at Alpine Fireside Health Center.

Joey was born October 9, 1944, in Marengo Hospital, Marengo, Iowa to Myrtle Mary (Smith) and Augustine “Gus” O’Donnell of Williamsburg, Iowa. The youngest of seven children, she graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1962 and from cosmetology school in Chicago the following year.

Shortly after graduation she and her dear friend Jan Marino and another friend opened Times 3 beauty salon on Rush Street. For more than 50 years, Josephine, as she was known in her professional career, continued her creativeness at major salons on Michigan Avenue.

The light of her life was her son Tim Serantoni. Joey was admired for her creativity and business acumen. She shared her many gifts with family and friends, as a hairstylist, decorator, and gardener. She volunteered her gardening talents at Assumption Catholic Church, where the beautiful gardens and altar arrangements were testimony to her creativity and inventiveness.

Survivors include her son Timothy Serantoni, sisters Rita (Dr. Richard) Schaefer, Teresa (Theodore, Jr.) Ingrassia, and Kathryn (John) Riess, brothers-in-law John Stirk and Edward DeMeulenaere and many nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren. She is also survived by stepchildren Dorothy Bernard, Christie Hogan, Leslie Meyer, and Custer Livermore III.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Francis Mell O’Donnell, sisters Patricia Stirk and Rose Mary DeMeulenaere, sister-in-law Margie O’Donnell, niece Cynthia Summers and nephew Charles Stirk.

A private funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Joseph Chamblain O.S.M., Assumption Catholic Church, Chicago.
