Margaret Mary Jones, 76, graced this world from September 1, 1948, until her passing on August 16, 2025, in Rockford, Illinois. Born in Chicago, Margaret was one of three daughters to Howard and Ragina (Jasik) Gatenby. A devoted wife, Margaret married her childhood sweetheart, Russell, at the tender age of 18. Together, they navigated life’s winding roads, enduring its ups and downs while forging memories that would last a lifetime. Their love was a testament to the joy of shared experiences, whether they were dancing at a function or sharing quiet moments at home. Professionally, Margaret dedicated 15 years of her life to David C Cook Publishing, but truly, she "loved peopling." Her love for selling Avon was not merely a job; it was a way for her to connect with people, reflecting her cherished personality; big-hearted and always eager to engage with others. Margaret also had a knack for finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether it was painting ceramics, engaging in spirited card or spoon games, crossword puzzles, or immersing in soap operas that brought her laughter and drama alike. Margaret recognized the importance of family and worked diligently to create special memories for her kids and grandchildren. She poured love into every stitch as she sewed outfits for her children and crafted imaginative Halloween costumes. Her joy extended beyond the fabric and thread; she reveled in creating unforgettable experiences with her grandchildren, making trips to the Dells and adventures in Arkansas that will forever be cherished memories for the special people in her life. In her final days, Margaret was enveloped in the warmth of her beloved family, drawing strength and comfort from their presence. It was the perfect testament to a life lived with devotion to those she loved.
She will be missed by her husband of 58 years, Russell; her children Doyle (Nancy) Jones and Dusti (Rudy Edwards) Jones; grandchildren Doyle Jr. and Chelsea; great grandson Ryker; her sister Maureen Hebel and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Howard and Ragina, as well as her sister Marilyn Boland.
Services will be private to the family, with burial at Windridge Cemetery in Cary, Illinois. To send online condolences or share memories, please visit www.fitzgeraldfh.com
