Mary Ann Gerber

Mary Ann Gerber, 81, of Rockford, IL passed away May 7, 2025. She was born July 14, 1943, in Neillsville, WI the daughter of Arnold and Elsie (Pfefferkorn) Halle. Mary Ann graduated form Neillsville High School and went on to obtain her master’s at Rockford College. She worked many years at Sunstrand Corp. and was a business teacher at Jefferson High School. Mary Ann found her passion while hosting foreign exchange students. This led to her assuming the role of Foreign Exchange Student Coordinator, allowing her to facilitate many hosting opportunities for students and families. Mary Ann loved her family and doted over her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening in her yard and participated in the Burn’s Banquet. Mary Ann will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Micheal (Sara) Gerber, Michelle (Thomas) Minnihan, Mark (Susan) Gerber, Micki Gerber and Mindeya (Jarrid) Summerfelt; grandchildren, Michael Minnihan, Raquel Dahlen, Ryan Gerber, Brandon Gerber; siblings, Joan (Lee) Kurasz and Glenn (Dina) Halle; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, Arnold and Elsie.

The family would like to thank Mary Ann’s caregivers, Amanda and Neida for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Mary Ann will be laid to rest Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 3:00 pm in Greenwood City Cemetery, Greenwood, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ALS Association at als.org.
