Mary Lou Sensor

August 20, 1934 — June 19, 2025

Rockford

Mary Lou Sensor, 90, passed away on June 19, 2025, in Rockford, Illinois. She was born on August 20, 1934, in Stilwell Oklahoma, daughter to Walter and Mary Reed. Her journey through life included two profound and loving marriages. Mary Lou shared 29 joyful years with her beloved husband, Andrew Stevenson, who passed away in August 1983. Mary’s professional journey spanned 19 years as a dedicated secretary for the Barbara Colman Company. After a fulfilling career, she retired in 1995, ready to embrace new adventures and focus on what brought her the most joy—her family. Her time spent as a volunteer with the ALFA Retirement Group, is where she met her second husband, Edward "Jim" Sensor, a companionship that began on July 29, 1995, and was cherished until his passing on December 21, 2001. A woman of diverse interests, she could often be found in the realms of good literature, the challenge of intricate puzzles, and the treasured company of family. Mary Lou’s life was illuminated by her love for her grandsons, with whom she created countless cherished moments. She delighted in taking them on after-school adventures to the mall and the arcade. Their afternoons would conclude with quiet evenings filled with books and challenging board games. As time passed, Mary Lou found her days illuminated by the presence of her daughter, as they dedicated Thursdays to sharing lunches and pampering sessions that included visits to Sara’s salon—a testament to their bond that grew ever deeper.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa (Henry) Torchia, grandchildren Andrew (fiancée Savannah) and Alex Torchia; as well as Mary Lou’s son Greg (Andrea) Stevenson. She is predeceased by her first husband Andrew and second husband Jim; her parents and her brothers and sisters.
