Maryann Whiteley, 70, of Rockford, passed away on the evening of November 16, 2024. She was born in Chicago to Gustaf and Doris Hyllestad on April 28, 1954. Maryann served as a nurse in the Rockford area for over 40 years, earning her master’s degree in nursing. She was very involved with church, attending every Saturday and Sunday as much as she could. She will be most remembered for her selflessness and overall care for others. She served her community and was said to have lived her life outside of work just as she would as a nurse, putting other people before herself. Her family has fond memories of her extravagant Barbie collection, as well as her love for animals and Betty Boop.
She is survived by her children, Celestino (Sarah) Rosa Jr., Petra (Schuylar) Tolefree; grandchildren, Cyanna, Camyle, Celina, Cali, Schuylar Jr., Yesennia, Asia, Unai, Gabriella; great-grandchild, Schuylar III. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Lloyd Hyllestad.
A visitation for Maryann will be held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford, IL 61103 on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. through 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow immediately after. Committal service at Arlington Memorial Park.
