Matthew A. Zimmer

Matthew A. Zimmer, 41, of Byron, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was born on September 9, 1972, in Rockford; the son of Richard and Marleen Zimmer. He graduated from Boylan High School and University of Illinois in Electrical Engineering. Matt was a loving father, great brother, and wonderful son. He loved his children with all his heart, his family, and God. He was an avid Illini, Cowboys, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. He truly enjoyed his work and his coworkers at Danfoss. His hobbies involved barefooting, skiing, golfing, running, bowling, playing cards, and always enjoyed a good beer.
Survived by his parents; his children, Rachel, Lauren, and Eric; his siblings, Peter (Kim) Zimmer; Larry (Susan) Zimmer, Mary (Dan) Babb-Richardson, Cathy Morrow; Joseph (Deborah) Zimmer, Sharon (Peter) Peterson and 14 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Grandma and Grandpa Pytlik, Grandma and Grandpa Zimmer and brother-in-law Daryl Babb.
Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 4:30 – 7:00 pm on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm.
