Milton G. Garner, 92, of Rockford and formerly of Northbrook, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Wesley Willows Health Care. He was born on January 28, 1922 in Clio, MI the son of Glen and Elsie Garner. After high school he joined the Air Force Reserves and later married his loving wife, Bettie J. Gieter. He worked for 43 years as an airplane mechanic for Priester Aviation at the Palwaukee Municipal Airport, AKA Chicago Executive Airport, in Wheeling, retiring in 1975. Milton and Bettie were faithful members of N. Northfield United Methodist Church in Northbrook before they moved to Rockford and joined Beth Eden United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children, Robin (Angela) Garner of Glendale, AZ, Dave (Ann) Garner of Bartlett and Sarah (Dennis) Barker of St. Paul, Minn; brother, Lee Garner of Clio, Mi; sister, Mary Hammond of Howell, MI and his grandchildren, Kaelyn, Adam, Zachary, Molly and Emma.
Preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Bettie in Dec. of 2007.
Memorial service Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Beth Eden United Methodist Church, 3201 Huffman Blvd, Rockford, IL. Inurnment will be held at a later date in N. Northfield Cemetery, Northbrook. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to : Visiting Nurses Association, 4223 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61108 or Beth Eden UMC, 3201 Hufffman Blvd, Rockford, IL 61103.
