NANCY (MURPHY) STOUT, 69
Nancy J. Stout, 69, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 6, 1944 in Mason City, IA; daughter of Bernard and Marjorie (Lewis) Murphy. Lived her early childhood in Waterloo, Iowa moving to Rockford in 1953. She graduated from Rockford West High School in 1962 and began her secretarial career at J.L. Clark. She married Robert Stout on March 27, 1963 and together they ran Bob Stout Building and Remodeling for 34 years. They loved traveling and have visited 45 states, London, Germany and also took many cruises. Always volunteered at her children's and grandchildren's schools, loved attending all their activities and a big supporter of their sports. Volunteered for the Rockford Area Literacy Council. Loved her bowling friends of 45 years; her neighborhood potluck; charter member of Sinnissippi Quilters. Member of Third Presbyterian Church since 1958. Taught Sunday school early on and enjoyed the friendship of the Davis Circle ladies for more than 45 years. Delivered mobil meals through the church for many years.
Survived by loving family; husband of 51 years, Robert Stout; sons, Michael (Birdena) Stout, Thomas (Melissa) Stout; grandchildren, Ryan, Troy, Amy, Andrea; great-grandson, Dominic; mother, Marjorie Murphy; brother, Larry (Judy) Murphy; sisters, Charlene Ramsey and Jane (Dave) Picken; brother-in-law, Bill (Stacey) Stout; sister-in-law, Connie (Wayne) Weimer; nieces and nephews, Libby, Christy (Jack), Tim (Mandy), Becky, Andy, Kate, Allison, Eric (Becky), Bryce (Rob), Katie, Derek and Sarah; great nieces and nephews, Jackson, Maggie, Addie, Anders, Ascher, Aidan, Brandon, Paige and Samantha; numerous cousins and long-time card playing friends. Predeceased by her beloved brother-in-law, David; father, Bernard; father-in-law, Billy; mother-in-law, Betty.
The family would like to give thanks for the kindness and care given by OSF Hospital, OSF Cancer Center and Serenity House Hospice.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 3rd Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Avenue, Rockford with Rev. Dr. Murray Hanson officiating. Burial in Willwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until time of service Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford assisted the family.
