Patricia "Pat" Atkinson, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
She was born in Rockford, IL on April 3, 1936, daughter of Emmett and Myrtle (Warner) Alex. She attended grade school at Morris Kennedy and graduated from East High School in Rockford. Pat married William "Bill" Atkinson on January 3, 1964 and they shared 60 years of marriage before Bill's passing just this past February. She was a member of Cathedral Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Pat was raised on a farm which led to her taking great pride in caring for her home and providing her love and care to the animals on the farm. Pat also enjoyed watching NASCAR on television and even attended a few races in person.
Those left to honor Pat's memory include her children, Jill Winger, Kevin (Patti) Winger and Wendy Winger; grandchildren, Chad (Kristin) Porter, Amy (Matt) Allen, Andy (Jessica) Winger, John Winger, Tyler Winger, Joey Winger, Kevin (Taylor) Winger and Christy Pippel; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Billy Lohoff; numerous nieces, a nephew and not to forget her beloved fur child, Sadie the dog. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Bill; sister, Ramona Miller; step-daughter, Sally Lohoff and granddaughter, Chelli Pippel.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Katie of Heartland Hospice for her kindness, care and compassion during her time with Pat and her family.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Burial will conclude in New Milford Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family to be established at a later date.
