Patricia "Pat" R. Morford

Patricia “Pat” Rose Morford, age 76, of Rockford, died on Monday, October 23, 2023.

She was born in Cherokee, AL on September 20, 1947, daughter of Gus and Lilly (Wellington) Franks. Pat graduated from Cherokee High, Class of 1965. Immediately following high school, she headed to Rockford and went straight to work as an operator for AT&T for many dedicated years until her retirement. Pat married Leon R. Morford on May 26, 1972, in Rockford, IL. She attended Heritage Baptist Church and was very strong in her faith. Pat enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and camping all throughout the United States with her husband. Together, they traveled the country and were able to visit all lower 48 states.

Pat is survived by her husband, Leon Morford; stepchildren, Recio Encinas and Sandra Stebbins; sister, Jerrie Ackerman; niece, Sherrie Ackerman and nephew, Loran Ackerman. She is predeceased by her parents and 7 siblings.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. The burial will conclude in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford, IL.
