Patrick D. Proudfoot

Patrick D. Proudfoot, 78, Rockford, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, in Presence Cor Mariae surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 30, 1936, in Boscobel, WI, the son of Shelby E. and Eunice L. (Riley) Proudfoot. Pat moved to Rockford in 1952, from Viroqua, WI. He served in the Navy from 1953 until 1957 as an Electrician Mate 2nd class. Pat married Sharryn Roach in Rockford in St. Patrick Catholic Church on May 5, 1962. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where he was active on the buildings and grounds crew and served in many various ministries. Pat worked as a Quality Manager and later as a Support Manager for Barber Coleman Aerospace Division for 43 years retiring in 2001. He enjoyed being on his houseboat with his boating friends at Frentress Lake Marina. Most of all Pat loved spending time with his family.
Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharryn; daughter, Laura (Jim) Marner; son, Robert (Michelle) Proudfoot; grandchildren, Patrick, Andrew, and Bethanne Marner and Daniel and Shelbie Proudfoot; brothers, William and Jon (Karen) Proudfoot; sister, Jill Torgenson; nephews, Mark and Mike Proudfoot and Wayne and Kieth Gahl; nieces, Susan McWaters, Kimberly Proudfoot, Andra (Dan) Nagle, Julie Gahl, and Tanya Gahl. Predeceased by his parents; sister, June McWaters; brothers-in-law, Paul McWaters and Avery Torgeson; sister-in-law, Bette Proudfoot.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 6, 2014, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Av. Rockford. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 4:00 P.M., until 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. with the Rosary recited at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will continue from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W. State St. Rockford, 61102.
